Burns Night Supper
On Saturday 23rd January 2015 we held our annual Burns’ Night Supper. This year we had a great turn out with the tickets selling out to capacity plus a few extras! Attendees were greeted at the door by our resident piper on arriving at the hall. The evening started with a couple of dances to help build up the appetite for our supper, we then had a break to rest our legs and prepare for supper. The ceremonial haggis was piped in and paraded to the audience, followed by Robbie Burns address to the haggis delivered with relish by Iain Morrison which was greatly received by all, followed by a toast of whisky to the bard. The supper of haggis, neeps and tatties was enjoyed by all with many returning for second plates!! Following the the raffle the rest of the evening was spent dancing eightsome reels, stripping the willow, Petronela , Gay Gordons etc. along with an odd trip to the bar.
Many thanks to Richard Galley for piping, Lawrence Kay, Jean and Richard Blayney for cooking and delivering an excellent meal, plus Jean ran the bar for the event. Also thanks go to Barbara Collins as ever for organising tickets, raffle and generally keeping us in order and every one else who helped make the event so successful.
In all a great event for which we got some brilliant comments and requests for the date of next years event and when will the tickets be on sale!
